About
Carol Prentice
ATCA Board member since 2020
Carol P. Prentice has been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1986. Her journey with the work began in 1979 after a failed low-back spinal fusion. Carol trained with master teachers Frank Ottiwell and Robert Earle at the Alexander Training Institute of San Francisco, graduating in 1986. Since that time, she has continued studying with senior and first-generation Alexander teachers in both the United States and Europe.
Carol’s work also draws on complementary traditions that support embodied learning. She is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, graduating from the California College of Ayurveda, where she later served on the faculty and as Internship Director from 2008 to 2016. She is also a certified 500-RYT yoga teacher in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya through the Healing Yoga Foundation (2010), and a Certified End-of-Life Doula and Care Consultant (2021).
She maintains a private practice in Tampa, Florida, where she teaches individuals from many walks of life. She also works online with actors and performers and leads retreats in the United States and Europe, combining the principles of AT work, Breath-Center Yoga, and functional lifestyle practices to help people live better lives.
Carol served as Co-Director of the 11th International Alexander Technique Congress and joined the board of the Alexander Technique Congress Association (ATCA) in 2018.
