ATCA – Organisational Structure
Although the structure behind the Congresses has evolved over time, a significant milestone was reached in 2020 when the Alexander Technique Congress Association (ATCA) became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered in England and Wales (Charity Number 1192471).
ATCA is the body responsible for overseeing each international Alexander Technique Congress. It is guided by a board of experienced Alexander Technique teachers who collaborate to plan and support future congresses. This includes determining locations and dates, appointing congress directors, and providing continuity from one congress to the next. Each congress director then plays a key role in shaping the individual event, including the selection of presenters and other core programming decisions.
Board Structure and Member Roles
ATCA is made up of trustees, who hold legal responsibility for the organisation and consulting board members. The board members contribute their time and expertise in a variety of important ways, without carrying legal responsibility. While there is a legal distinction between these roles, the ATCA board works collaboratively, with most decisions made collectively.
The current Board Members and their respective roles are:
Trustees:
Jamie McDowell (Chair)
Jean Fischer (Treasurer)
Andreas Dirscherl
Carol Prentice
Rossella Buono
Consulting Board Members:
Benjamin Mitchell
Jessica Santascoy
Kamal Thapen
Lucia Walker
Michael Frederick
Michaela Wohlgemuth
Robert Britton
